Africa-Press – Nigeria. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, has commenced investigation into a viral video depicting a group of female students assaulting and stripping their classmate in Benue State.
In a statement official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the agency said it has instructed its Benue State Command to act without delay.
“This is indeed a sad development. The case has been forwarded to our Benue State Command, which has been directed to immediately liaise with the relevant agencies in the state to ensure swift and appropriate action on the matter,” NAPTIP wrote.
The agency’s response comes amid intense public backlash following the circulation of the video earlier on Monday.
The footage shows no fewer than five girls, dressed in school uniforms, humiliating another student, who was seen trying to shield herself as the attackers mocked her and filmed the incident.
