The country which suffered seriously economically and security wise under the present administration of APC ‘s President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice Professor Yemi Osibanjo need a leader that can turn the situation around.
As both Political parties in Nigeria Conducted their Presidential Primary elections but choosing running or Vice Presidential candidate turn to be another Political issue unlike in the Previous elections.
APC as the ruling Party with Bola Ahmed Tunibu as Presidential flag bearer has to select an adhoc running mate from Katsina State just to meet INEC deadline of summiting Candidates name.
On Sunday 11th of July APC Presidential Candidate announces the name of former Borno State Governor Senator Kashim Shatima as his running mate.
With this Development the ruling Party APC confirms it’s stand of having Muslim Muslim ticket .
Bola Ahmed Tunibu disclosed the name of his Vice Presidential Candidate during a Visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in his home town Daura in Katsina State where the President was celebrating his Edi el Khabir festival.
Peoples Democratic Party – PDP as the main opposition Party nominated it’s Vice Presidential Candidate few days after the Primary election of which former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged victorious on May this year
Governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa from South South geo – Political zone was the Man chooses by Atiku as running mate.
NNPP that has former Governor of Kano State Dr.Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso as Presidential Candidate and Labour Party with former of Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi as flag bearer delayed in nominating the Vice Presidential Candidates with hope of reaching consensus between the two Candidates.
All indications shows that the alliance could not be achieved as Peter Obi Picked the Proprietor of Baze University and former Senator Hakim Baba Ahmad from Kaduna State of North West geo Political zone as his running mate.
NNPP and it’s Presidential Candidate Kwankwaso are yet to announce the substantive running mate as Barrister Ladipo Johnson from Lagos State South West earlier nominated was considered as temporary according Kwankwaso.
Recently Senator Kwankwaso has an interview with Journalists in Kano as Part of activities to mark Edil el Kabir celebration in Kano.
The NNPP Presidential Candidate stated during the media chat said that he will soon release the name of his running mate before the Independent National electoral Commission dead line.
He said his Vice Presidential Candidate will come from the South and will be a Christian to ensure inclusion.
Baban gida Lamido who is a Political analyst describe the actions of APC ,Labourty , NNPP and other parties in choosing Vice Presidential Candidate as weakness from the side of Parties leadership.
Baban gida added that Parties should immediately after the Primary elections anoint the running mates.
“To me PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar is more Democratic see how he selected his Vice Presidential candidate with out wasting much time”
“And it does not make any difference from where the Vice President Comes from provided he has the capacity to handle the office.
Baban gida Lamido advised Nigerians to elect credible leaders during 2023 elections regardless of religion , ethnicity or their region.
