Africa-Press – Nigeria. Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have foiled a bandit attack and neutralised one suspected bandit during a special operation in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, conducted under Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, was based on credible intelligence about the movement of armed bandits around the Fikyu axis in Ussa, according to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Sunday via his verified X handle.
Zagazola revealed that the troops laid an ambush around Gafar village at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, following reports of suspected bandits planning to launch an attack in the area.
“Troops laid an ambush along identified crossing points of the bandits in the area. At about 032100A May 25, troops sighted some bandits moving towards Gafar with possible intent to attack,” the report stated.
The ambush party reportedly engaged the suspects, killing one on the spot while others escaped into the surrounding bush.
During the clearance operation that followed, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle reportedly stolen from a local resident.
The recovered items, according to sources, are now in the custody of the military for further action.
