COVID-19: Osun govt flags off Moderna vaccination, urges public to take jabs

Africa-PressNigeria. The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has told the Osun people that their first duty towards the fight against COVID-19 is to keep themselves and their immediate families safe.

This is as the governor also disclosed that the state had received 47,900 doses of the Moderna vaccine from the Federal Government.

The governor stated this during the flag off the rollout of phase two COVID-19, Moderna vaccination in Osogbo Tuesday.

Represented by his Deputy, Benedict Alabi, Oyetola revealed that the availability of the COVID-19 vaccines had been slowed down by vaccine scarcity worldwide but that the Federal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) were making efforts to get the vaccines for the populace.

The governor who explained that his administration has been creating public awareness on the pandemic on both the social and mass media platforms urged the public to observe the safety protocols which is the best way to defeat the pandemic and avoid infection.

While encouraging the people to report any early signs and symptoms immediately it presents, he reiterated that early detection and treatment was also best way to curtail the pandemic.

He added that Osun has been collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Health, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control, World Health Organisation, and other development partners to tackle the pandemic in order to promote healthy living within the state.

In his words, “The COVID-19 vaccination is harmless and also boosts immunity against the pandemic.

“The DELTA COVID variant is deadly and more deadly than the first and second phases of the virus.
