Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect, Aliyu Umar, in connection with a fatal armed robbery attack in Danbare Quarters that left one man dead.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, May 5, at about 6:40 a.m.
“Two suspected armed robbers stormed the residence of one Shehu Muhammad, a 30-year-old male, and attacked him with a long sharp cutlass, inflicting multiple injuries on his body,” Kiyawa said.
He explained that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, swiftly deployed operational teams and detectives to the scene upon receiving the distress report.
“The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for medical attention, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor,” he added.
The police successfully apprehended one of the suspects, Aliyu Umar, at the scene of the attack and recovered the weapon used in the assault.
“The suspect is currently helping police investigation and will face prosecution in the end,” Kiyawa stated.
The Police Command commended members of the community for their swift response and support in apprehending the suspect, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
“The Command assures the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order and bringing perpetrators to justice,” the statement read.
