Africa Press-Nigeria:
Nigerian international winger Samuel Chukwueze is garnering attention from a host of Premier League sides, including Everton – who had been interested in the youngster as far back as 2015.
The Toffees are joined by the likes of Leicester City and Manchester United in holding an interest in the Villareal attacker, whilst Chukwueze has caught the eye of ‘three other Premier League clubs and many more across Europe’, according to 90min.com.
The 21-year-old has been a regular in the Villareal team despite his age, having been scouted by the Spanish side when he was a youth player in Nigeria.
The source understands that the Nigerian is looking to England for his next move as he seeks to advance his career, though Villareal are expected to demand that any viable suitors match his release clause of more than £80m.
According to Transfermarkt, Chukwueze boasts an impressive record. When playing on the right, he has scored 12 times and assisted eight goals in 85 appearances. Whilst the figures are not exactly world-class, Chukwueze’s age must be taken into account. He evidently features strongly for Unai Emery’s new side and retains strong potential to improve.
Consequentially, Villareal have moved before to secure their in-demand talent.
Chukwueze has previously signed two new contracts at El Madrigal in the space of 16 months and his release clause is now believed to have more than double what it was at the start of 2019 (as per 90min.com). The Nigerian will not leave cheaply from Villareal.
READ EVERTON VERDICT
Competition for the Nigerian’s signature will likely be fierce, given the number of clubs involved. Given his record – and at such a young age – it is not difficult to see why he appears to be such an attractive prospect.
If Everton secured their man, as unlikely as it would seem, then there’s every chance he’ll make huge waves on Merseyside.
