Former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has met with leaders of Fulani group living in the south west to discuss the security issues facing the region.

Premium Times reports that the Fulani group was led by Saleh Bayari, the chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Association, with three leaders representing each of the south west states, as well as Kogi state.

Obasanjo gave a brief opening speech at the open door segment of the meeting before the leaders proceeded indoor for a private meeting.

He said: “I want to also beg of you, we must not leave anything under the carpet, that is only way to get the best from a meeting like this.

“None of us who does not know what has been happening about insecurity in the country. We should be able to get a way forward.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun on Friday, August 2, announced plans by governors of the southwest zone to operate a joint security team to patrol the entire region.

Abiodun disclosed this in Abeokuta at a sensitisation programme on the vision and focus of his administration held in preparation of the 2020 budget .

“A joint security team that will patrol major roads and provide adequate security to the people of the southWest region of the country will soon be set up,” he said.
