Africa-Press – Nigeria. A Customs officer has been killed following an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists on a Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) checkpoint in Maje, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when the attackers, reportedly riding on motorcycles, opened fire on the checkpoint before fleeing towards the border forests.

The development was disclosed on Sunday in a post on X by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist covering insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.

The journalist noted that the latest attack comes shortly after another major security incident in the same local government area.

On October 31, Lakurawa gunmen abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly during a raid in Bagudo town.

The lawmaker was rescued on Saturday evening following a security operation, although details of the rescue were not made public.

Residents in the affected communities reportedly remain in fear as the group continues to operate across rural areas of Bagudo LGA, taking advantage of the remote terrain along the Nigeria–Benin and Nigeria–Niger border corridors.
