Kwara Students Injured in Auto Crash at Usman Danfodio

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Thirteen Kwara State students of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, were reportedly injured in an auto-crash which occurred on Yauri-Sokoto expressway in Kebbi State.

Eight of the students sustained varying degrees of bone fractures which will require surgeries.

Five others are to undergo medical treatment all at the Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital, in Sokoto.

The driver of the vehicle died in the accident, which occurred while the students were returning to Sokoto, according to a Government House statement in Ilorin on Wednesday.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has directed immediate release of funds for medical emergencies for the 13 injured students.

He also sent a get-well-soon message to the students through the Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Wasiu Onidugbe, praying to God to grant the students safe recovery.

“The governor has immediately released N5,250,000.00 to cover the cost of tests, scans, and other procedures and treatments already itemized by the hospital,” according to a statement by the SA Students Affairs.
