While capable of carving more attacking teams apart with deadly counter attacks, Manchester United remain unable to properly get through more defensive minded tactics.

That was once again on display on Sunday as they drew 1-1 at home to Everton, with Duncan Ferguson’s side spending large chunks of the game in a tight block, which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men struggled to break through.

More creativity and firepower is needed in January, and one of the players United are reportedly looking at is Club Brugge’s Emmanuel Dennis.

That’s what Yahoo! Sport journalist Manu Lonjon is reporting on Monday, claiming the Premier League club had a scout for the Jupiler Pro League game against KV Mechelen on Sunday where the forward scored his team’s second in a 3-0 win, slotting past the goalkeeper with a deft back heel.

Lonjon also explain Manchester United are keen to return to basics, with a team of youngsters alongside two or three older players for experience purposes.

At 22 years of age, Dennis falls into the former category, and his ability to play across the front three fits the kind of forward Solskjaer will be looking for.

Whether United go any further than this remains to be seen, but if they are scouting the Nigeria international (two caps), it could mean they expect to be active in the upcoming transfer window.
