Nasarawa Brothers Attacked by Bandits in Lafia Home

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Akunza community within the Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State was thrown into mourning when gunmen stormed a family property and attacked two brothers, killing one and leaving the other battling for his life.

The victims, identified as Edwin and his elder brother Cyril, were supervising construction work at their family house on Monday when the assailants struck.

According to a relative, the workers who had been on-site earlier in the day had just left when the gunmen arrived.

“They came calling their names and tried to force the door open. When they couldn’t, because the brothers had locked it from inside, the attackers went to the window and shot Edwin first before turning their gun on Cyril,” the relative explained.

In the chaos, Cyril managed to place a distress call to their mother, alerting her of the assault before collapsing from his injuries. Edwin died instantly.

The family has been thrown into mourning, while residents of Lafia lamented what they described as a disturbing pattern of unchecked killings in the state capital.

Contrary to speculation that the brothers were attacked while returning from a farm, eyewitnesses confirmed that the incident occurred right within the bustling Akunza community, an area with active neighbours and ongoing activities.

The tragedy occurred barely hours after DAILY POST reported that another prominent resident, Alhaji Sani, was shot dead by suspected bandits in his Lafia home.

In that incident, enraged neighbours mobilised and lynched one of the attackers.

The back-to-back killings have increased tension in the metropolis, with residents warning that the state capital is fast becoming unsafe.

“Frequent attacks and killings here are worrisome,” one resident told newsmen.

“People can no longer sleep with both eyes closed. We need urgent government action before Lafia becomes a war zone.”

As of press time, police authorities in Nasarawa have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incidents.
