Nigerian Nurses Begin Seven-Day Warning Strike

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Nurses, under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, are set to embark on a seven-day warning strike, from Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

NANNM said the decision follows the expiration of a 15-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government over demands related to the review of allowances for health workers.

In a circular signed by the association’s 2nd National Vice President, Orolu Sesan, and Deputy General Secretary, Elder Otaru Daniel Shaibu, NANNM directed all state council leaders to mobilise members for the industrial action if the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare fails to meet the demands.

The circular instructed state leaders to convene meetings of relevant organs on Monday, July 28, in preparation for the strike.

NANNM said the strike will commence immediately after the ultimatum expires if the government does not address the association’s concerns.
