One killed, two injured in farmer-herdsmen clash in Jigawa

Africa-Press – Nigeria. A 27-year-old man was killed and two others seriously injured in a farmers/herdsmen clash in Jahun local government, Jigawa State.

The incident happened when farmers from Damutawa village Jahun LGA and herders who were passing through cattle routes clashed, as a result of which three (3) persons were injured.

Police spokesperson DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday.

He said the incident occurred between farmers and ranchers at Damutawa village.

Victims affected by the clash include Shehu Lawal Mohd 27yrs, Muhammed Sulaiman 25yrs and Abubakar Muhammad 23yrs all of Janguza village, Tofa LGA Kano State.

DSP. Shiisu said on receipt of the information, a team of Policemen attached to Jahun Police Station visited the scene and conveyed the victims to Jahun General Hospital. One of the victims named Shehu Lawal Mohd was confirmed dead by the medical Doctor in the hospital.

He explained that after sustained efforts, on 07/01/2024 Policemen attached to Jahun Division succeeded in arresting one Abdulkareem Muazu of Damutawa village Jahun LGA, who was mentioned as the prime suspect in connection with the incident.

According to him “one Dane Gun, some charms amulets, a knife, a wallet containing the sum of four thousand four hundred naira (4,400.00k) and a hunting bag was recovered from the suspect”

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to have shot the deceased Shehu Lawal Mohd with his Dane Gun”

DSP. Shiisu said the case is still under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse (SCID).
