Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Niger State Police Command said it has arrested a notorious thug and robbery suspect in possession of dangerous weapons and cannabis, along with nine other members of his gang, in parts of Minna, the state capital.

According to SP Abiodun, the spokesman of the command, on July 10, 2025, at about 2:30 pm, based on credible information received, police operatives attached to A Division arrested one notorious thuggery/robbery suspect named Hussaini Usman, aka El-Hussain, 23, of Kuta Road, Minna.

He stated that Hussaini was arrested with a long sharp knife and some suspected cannabis.

Abiodun explained that the suspect had been on the run, having recently robbed a salesgirl at Ogbomoso Road, Minna, where he carted away motorcycle spare parts.

According to him, “He usually threatened unsuspecting members of the public, robbing and snatching phones, as well as engaged in street fighting terrorising Ogbomoso Street, Ungwar-Sarki, and Paida areas of Minna.”

The police spokesman disclosed that during investigation, the suspect mentioned other members of his gang and consequently, on July 12, 2025, at about 3 am, nine other suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons at Ungwar Sarki and Ogbomoso Street.

In a related development, he further stated that on July 13, 2025 at about 3:30 pm, based on a tip-off, police operatives attached to Suleja Area Command and the 12 PMF component in Suleja arrested one Elijah Mathew of Sabon Kaida, Gurara LGA, with two and a half bags of suspected cannabis.

In the course of interrogation, Abiodun said the suspect confessed that he used to keep such bags for one Moses Obi of Maje, Suleja.

“The said Moses Obi was also arrested and he actually confirmed that he owned the suspected cannabis and that he bought it from one Aminu of Deidei, Abuja, presently at large,” the police spokesman added.

Meanwhile, all suspects are currently under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna for further action.
