Africa-Press – Nigeria. Security forces in Katsina State have killed a notorious bandit leader, Hamisu Mopol, during a gun battle near the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) permanent site.
According to a post on Tuesday by security analyst Bakatsine on X, the operation was carried out by officers of the Dutsin-Ma Police Division on Monday afternoon.
The encounter reportedly occurred during a routine patrol when the officers clashed with Mopol’s gang in the outskirts of the town.
Hamisu Mopol, identified as the son of Hajiya Lamiso, a woman frequently accused by locals of harboring bandits was killed in the shootout.
“Yesterday afternoon, Dutsin-Ma Police clashed with bandits near FUDMA permanent site. Bandits leader Hamisu Mopol was killed. He’s the son of Hajiya Lamiso, often accused of sheltering bandits; witnesses say their bikes were frequently seen at her home,” Bakatsine wrote.
As of press time, Katsina State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
