Africa-Press – Nigeria. The 96th Academy Awards and the accompanying sideshows will be available to watch on M-Net (DStv 101) on 11 March 2024.

The live broadcast will air at 01:00, with a second prime-time broadcast at 21:00.

The ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for his fourth Oscars gig.

The event will also feature performances by Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson, Jon Batiste, Becky G, Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, and Scott George and the Osage Singers, according to Variety.

Films such as Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Yorgos Lanthimos’s Poor Things are some of the titles up for Best Picture, the ceremony’s top award.

Actors Lily Gladstone, Cillian Murphy, Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Emma Stone, America Ferrera, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and others are also nominated in the various acting categories.

The Oscars have a total of 24 categories, which honours more general and technical achievements. The so-called ‘big five’ categories are considered to be Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay (for adapted and original).

The independent film Everything Everywhere All at Once scored the big prize at last year’s ceremony, scooping up other major awards as well.
