Residents Discover Lifeless Body in Plateau Community

Africa-Press – Nigeria. The once serene Tafawa Balewa community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State was on Monday thrown into panic after residents discovered the corpse of a middle-aged man near the gate of Township Primary School in the area.

According to a resident who spoke to journalists on the strange and gruesome discovery, it was the first time such would be found in the community.

The resident, Johnson Nyam, said the victim could have been killed in another part of the town, with his body dumped in the Tafawa Balewa community, as he was not a resident of the area.

Nyam, who said he was shocked to see the dead body while he was on his way to work, explained that he was passing through the street when he saw a large crowd and police vehicles gathered at the Township Primary School gate.

“When I approached the place, I saw a man lying down, and some people were saying that it had happened in the night. However, nobody knows exactly what happened to the man, but he was not alive,” Nyam said.

Nyam noted that on close examination of the corpse, he noticed that there were some substances coming from the man’s mouth and nose, which raised questions about the cause of death, suggesting that he could have been poisoned.

Though the State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, was yet to release an official statement on this incident, a police source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the body had been evacuated to a mortuary, while investigations are in top gear to unveil his identity as well as the circumstances surrounding his death.
