Soldiers rescue Oba of Lagos, LTV, MiTV off

The Oba of Lagos palace has been attacked.

The palatial residence located on the Island was on Wednesday ransacked by an irate mob.

The whereabouts of the monarch, Rilwan Akiolu, is not known yet.

His staff of office, regarded as the symbol of authority, was taken away.

Akiolu was hauled to safety before the assailants struck.

In response to a distress call, soldiers rushed to the palace and rescued him.

The violent youths turned against him after burning down the Ebute Ero police post in Idumota.

Meanwhile, Lagos Television (LTV) and MiTV have gone off.

The broadcast stations are located in Alausa.
