There have been changes to several of Spotify’s offers for South African users, including their Premium Individual plan.
The Premium Individual plan increased from R59.99 to R64.99 per month, and the Duo plan has increased from R79.99 to R84.99 per month.
According to the Spotify website, the student plan has also gone from R29.99 to R34.99 per month. The student plan provides a special discount for university students.
“We’re increasing the price of Premium Individual so that we can continue to invest in and innovate on our product offerings and features, and bring you the best experience,” the company stated in an email to subscribers.
Spotify is the most popular audio streaming platform in the world and offers music, podcasts, audiobooks and other audio content.
The new price has already been updated on their website for new subscribers.
Premium subscribers will still pay R59.99 per month until their billing date in November when their subscription will go up to the new price.
If a user is currently on a trial subscription, they won’t be charged until it ends, at which point they will be given 1 month at the current price of R59.99 until their bill is increased to the new price of R64.99.
The streaming service also now has a Mini plan for R11.99 per week, which provides one account on mobile only and still has some limitations.
Over the last year, different audio streaming platforms have seen price hikes, including Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer and Amazon Music.
