Africa-Press – Nigeria. Residents of Sheka and Maidile in Kumbotso Local Government on Monday night slept with fear of losing their lives as rival gang members from both areas engaged in a heated machete fights.

The video seen by DAILY POST also showed the boys rushing towards one another, as residents deserted the area. Loud bang was also heard, while the narrator in the video explained that they are breaking the glasses of a car and a shop close by.

A resident who spoke to DAILY POST said: “This is not thuggery, this is a means for them to rob people. These youths plan everything, how to go about the fight and make it look like a rival gang fight.”

“They have robbed and looted shops, stolen phones and more.” The resident noted, stating that the boys engage in the act were teenagers, within the ages of 14 to 22.

“They are very young, they are mostly 14, years old, the oldest or ring leader is usually around 22.”

Relaying the horror of Monday night, he vehemently disagreed that the incident was caused by a rival gang fights, stating, “Both groups plan this.”

He called on residents, parents and governments to stop playing into the cards of rivalry between gangs.

“We know these boys, we see them going about before each attack, we have been seeing them as they go back and forth, planning this attack.

“Policemen are not enough, we need to help the police, we already have a vigilante group, but it is not powerful enough, they now stop women, youths and others to snatch their phones and loot their shops. This is unacceptable,” he conclude.
