South Africa national U-20 head coach Thabo Senong has stated that they are currently analyzing Nigeria’s Flying Eagles to know their weaknesses ahead of their crucial U-20 Africa Cup of Nations fixture on Tuesday February 5 at the Seyni Kouche stadium in Niger Republic.
South Africa will need a favorable result against the Flying Eagles to maintain their hopes of making it to the semi final stage of the competition and also book one of the available tickets for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup to be staged in Poland from May 25 to June 16, 2019.
Nigeria tops group A after defeating Burundi 2 – 0 on Saturday while host Niger played out a 1 – 1 draw against South Africa’s Amajita. Yahaya Nafizi and Maxwell Effiom were the goal scorers for the Aigogun led team.
Nigeria is one win away from booking the world Cup ticket but Senong has stated that they will do their best to make it difficult for the Flying Eagles as they also seek a World Cup ticket and a loss will ultimately set them back. He stated that the team’s tactical staff is analyzing the team. “We will look at Nigeria and analyze how they play. We still have good players in our squad who are yet to feature in upcoming matches and I believe the team will be ready when we face Nigeria.
Nigeria has won the Competition seven times since its inception in 1971 and last won the trophy in 2015 beating host Senegal by a lone goal.
