Nigeria will overtake Ghana and Senegal as the top African country with players to have represented Fenerbahce if new signing Victor Moses makes his debut for the Yellow Canaries against Yeni Malatyaspor on Monday, January 28.
The former Super Eagles winger completed an 18-month loan move to Fenerbahce on Friday and in doing so, he became the fifth Nigerian player in history to sign for the 19-time Turkish Super Lig champions.
Former Nigeria captains Austin Okocha, Uche Okechukwu and Joseph Yobo previously played for the Istanbul club while Emmanuel Emenike was on the books of the club from 2013-2017.
Mamadou Niang, Issiar Dia, Moussa Sow and Abdoulaye Ba are the Senegalese stars to have represented Fenerbahce in the past.
Ghanaian quartet Samuel Johnson, Yaw Preko, Stephen Appiah and Andre Ayew have made appearances for the Yellow Canaries.
Signed from Danish club Brondby in 1993, Uche Okechukwu is the first Nigerian footballer to play for Fenerbahce and spent the longest period at the club, nine years, before transferring to İstanbulspor.
