Africa-Press – Nigeria. Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has given financial support to 8,225 secondary school girls across the state.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.
According to the statement, each girl received N40,000 to help them stay in school and continue their education.
“The girls were selected from the poorest and most vulnerable families in all 14 local government areas of the state.
“The N40,000 is for the first term. An extra N10,000 will be given in both the second and third terms, bringing the total to N60,000 per school session.
“Governor Lawal approved a total of N322 million for this first batch of girls. He also said plans are already in place to support more girls in the second batch,” the statement read.
The statement further disclosed that the money was given under two projects, the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) and the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE)
