Nigeria Police Dismiss 4 Officers For Killing Driver In Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command says it has dismissed the police man who shot a commercial driver dead at Oye Ekiti on Tuesday.

Police Public Relations officer in the state, Alberto Adeyemi gave the information while speaking with newsmen in Ado Ekiti.

Adeyemi told reporters that the trigger happy police man action  contravened the ethics of the Profession.

According to him, a Police man is not trained to kill but to safeguard life and property.
The PPRO who also spoke on the recent accident at Ayetoro said the Police did not shield the person who drove the car that killed two persons .

He appealed to the residents of the town not to take laws into their hands.
[12/14, 3:56 PM] Tunde Akinlabi: The Mobile Police corporal Ayo Famudimu who shot and killed a commercial driver in Oye Ekiti on Tuesday has appeared before a Chief magistrate court in Ado Ekiti charged with murder.

Police Prosecutor, Johnson Okunade asked for the accused to be remanded in prison custody pending the determination of the case.

He told the court that the suspect reasonably suspected to have murdered Olabode Ojo and attempted murder of Azeez Ayodimeji Isaac, an offence he said is punishable under section 319 and 324 of criminal code.

Defence Counsel, Sunday Ochai did not oppose the plea for remand order,  but told the court that the remand order is an aftermath of negligence.

Ochai while speaking with newsmen  said the case is not a clear case of murder but a  case of negligent.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate, Adesoji Adegboye ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till  December 28, 2017 for mention.
