Africa-Press – Nigeria. Corruption remain the major obstacle that hinders the Development of Nigeria in all aspects .

It is against this backdrop Federal Government Under President Olusegun Obasanjo established twin anti graft agencies ; Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission ICPC all with a view to check mate the menace.

One of the cardinal reasons behind the election of Buhari as President of Nigeria is to fight corruption in all sectors .

Accountant General of the Federation Ahmed Idris was suspended on 19th May this year ,three days after his arrest by EFCC on fraud allegation of about Two Hundred Billion Naira.

This indicate high level of corruption in the financial dealings of Nigeria .

As Nigerians are waiting for the fate of this Senior Buhari’s Government official Africa Press Correspondent Visits to one of the multi billion Naira Property ; Gezawa Commodity Exchange Market belongs to the Accountant General of the Federation in Gezawa twon of Kano State indicate that , the facility is still operating despite being marked under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – EFCC.

The facility houses large Commodity Market, wire houses ,trading whole with hundred of Computers befitting offices and restaurant.

Such facility is one out of many properties discovered by EFCC in Nigeria and in other countries like United Kingdom.

Is it legal for such facilities under investigation to be operating?

Barrister Habibu Tukur who a is lawyer with about eighteen years experience stated the Position of the law with regard to the Properties or any facility under investigation by an investigative agencies in Nigeria.

Habibu said on this regard EFCC usually use administrative fiat to notify prospective buyers or Investors from that facility by putting scare note.

He added that legally EFCC has no power to do so until it get Court order attached if not it should not fixed any other inscription.

That mark by any Investigative agency has no any significance on the eyes of the law ,it should not stop any transaction from taking place according the legal practioner.

“I refers any Mark or inscription by EFCC with out Matching Court order as a Joke”

Barrister Tukur added that with court order they don’t need to put any note but court order with Seal

Garba Maryam urged EFCC and office of the Attorney General of the Federation to take the matter of Corruption allegation against the suspended Accountant General Ahmad Idris to Court immediately
So that Nigerians and International Community will take Nigerian Government serious in such fight.

He said Attorney General Of the Federation should be proactive in charging such cases ,so as to avoid making Nigerians lost confidence in EFCC and other anti Corruption agencies.

Barrister Habibu Tukur and I G Maryam described the EFCC action as not only unlawful but some times marking wrong Properties.

They called on EFCC to always seek for Court order before puting note on any Property to avoid impunity.
