Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has introduced a new electricity payment system to block leakages and reduce hardship for customers when paying their bills.
Speaking during the official commissioning of the self-service ATM-enabled payment kiosk, a partnership between KEDCO and Fucil Datatech, on Friday, the Managing Director of the electricity company, Mr Abubakar Shuaibu Jimaita, said the initiative is part of the company’s digitisation drive to align with global standards.
He said it marks another milestone in demonstrating partnership and advancing their vision that, in all they do, customers come first, because once customers are satisfied, business operations flow more smoothly.
“And today we are here to launch something that is indeed part of our vision, whereby we are bringing in digitisation into our business. Change is constant, and it’s something that we have to keep on building on to build a better company,” he said.
Jimaita noted that every customer would not want to face difficulty in accessing any service or product they desire, which is why the digitisation initiative is apt and timely.
According to him, “Whatever it is that we do in KEDCO, whatever strategy that we’re going to come up with, whatever partnership that we’re going to go into, the first thing that will be on our minds is the customer.
“How does this affect the customer? How effective would it be for the customer? How happy would this strategy make the customer at the end of the day? Once we’re able to focus on that and achieve that, then all the other things fall into place, coming up with innovative ideas.”
The Managing Director hinted that KEDCO remains open to partnerships and collaborations that will strengthen the business, adding that the company will continue to engage stakeholders to ensure it becomes a world-class distribution company.
The Managing Director of Fucil Datatech Limited, Mrs Chioma Eugenia Iwuagwu, noted that her company’s mandate is to deliver, develop, deploy and secure scalable and innovative digital solutions that enhance institutional operational efficiency while elevating customer experience.
