Africa-Press – Nigeria. Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), on Thursday visited Singa Market in Kano, where his presence attracted a large crowd of youths and traders.
Kwankwaso went to the market to sympathise with traders affected by a recent fire outbreak.
As his convoy moved along Bello Road, hundreds of young people gathered around, forcing traffic to slow.
Supporters loudly chanted slogans in his support, including “Kano sai Kwankwaso,” as they struggled to get close to him.
On arrival at the market, Kwankwaso stepped out of his vehicle and walked towards the crowd, waving and responding to their cheers.
He raised his hand in a victory sign as the supporters continued shouting his name.
The crowd that followed his convoy caused temporary disruption to business activities in parts of Kano Central, as several roads were blocked while people stopped to watch the former governor.
Kwankwaso was dressed in his usual white traditional outfit with a red cap, a style closely associated with him by his supporters.
This comes after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf defected to the APC, amid indications that he is likely to contest again against the Kwankwasiyya-led NNPP and other parties.
