Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited has confirmed the complete restoration of operations on the Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System, ELPS, after an explosion disrupted activities in Warri, Delta State, earlier this month.
In a statement released on Tuesday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, the company disclosed that the incident occurred on December 10, 2025, but was swiftly brought under control through prompt emergency intervention.
NNPC Limited said specialised, multidisciplinary teams were immediately mobilised to secure the affected section of the pipeline, carry out necessary repairs, conduct pressure integrity tests and safely recommission the facility.
Confirming the successful restoration, the company stated that “today, the pipeline is fully operational, reaffirming our resilience and commitment to energy security.”
The company attributed the rapid recovery of the pipeline system to effective collaboration among key stakeholders, including host communities, regulatory bodies, security agencies, industry partners and its workforce.
According to the statement, “this achievement was made possible through the unwavering support of our host communities, the guidance of regulators, the vigilance of security agencies, and the dedication of our partners and staff,” noting that operations were restored “in record time while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.”
NNPC Limited said the swift response ensured that what could have resulted in prolonged disruption was instead resolved with minimal downtime.
Reaffirming its broader responsibilities, the company assured Nigerians of its continued commitment to environmental protection, community safety and the reliability of critical national energy infrastructure.
“As we move forward, NNPC Limited remains steadfast in its pledge to protect our environment, safeguard our communities, and maintain the integrity and reliability of our assets,” the statement added. “Thank you for your trust as we continue to power progress for Nigeria, together.”
