Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Osun State Government says it has made available about N21 billion to cater for its pensioners under the old pension scheme and another sum of N5 billion for those under the Contributory Scheme.
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola disclosed this on Tuesday during the presentation of bond certificates to 143 retirees at the State Government Secretariat, Abere.
The governor said the bond certificates are in line with the state government’s commitment to the welfare and comfort of retired civil servants in the state.
The 143 retirees from state and local government levels were presented with over N963 million under the Contributory Pension Scheme.
Oyetola noted that despite the harsh economic conditions confronting the state arising from national and economic challenges, his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers, both serving and retired, remained unwavering since his inauguration on 27th November 2018.
In his words, “We have continued the regular and prompt payment of full salaries and allowances to all categories of active workers as well as full pension to all our pensioners at all levels including the monthly release of N509 million to pensioners under the Old Pension Scheme.”
While thanking the beneficiaries for their patience and perseverance, he assured those who were yet to collect theirs to be patient and keep faith with the government.
“We are working assiduously to ensure that we reach out to all of them as soon as possible”, he added.
