RemitHope Aims to Raise US$50 Million for Africa

Africa-Press – Nigeria. RemitHope, a fintech-powered social enterprise, has showcased its vision of mobilising financial support for underfunded African-led community initiatives at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) Winter School and Investment Conference in the United Kingdom.

Addressing over 300 delegates in London, including finance leaders, investment professionals and diaspora community representatives, RemitHope highlighted the urgent funding gaps faced by African communities.

“With Africa only able to mobilise half of the more than USD 1,3 trillion required annually to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, international aid is decreasing and local solutions are needed now more than ever,” said RemitHope representative Musa Muleya.

RemitHope mobilises financial support for underfunded, African-led community initiatives by connecting them with Africans at home and in the diaspora.

Through its trusted digital ecosystem – that showcases credible grassroots causes and enables secure, transparent giving – the organisation directs resources to where they are needed most, unlocking local potential and strengthening resilient, self-sustaining communities across the continent.

“RemitHope’s approach has already proved effective,” said Muleya, citing a recent successful mobilization campaign led by RemitHope in Zimbabwe.

“Following a recent fire that gutted an Orphanage at Mount Selinda, near Zimbabwe’s eastern town of Chipinge, RemitHope mobilised 1 033 donors across 10 countries in just under three weeks, raising USD 40,519 in that time.

“However, with support from partners’ matching funds, the total doubled to over USD 81,038 given in less than a month,” Muleya said. “This innovative mechanism not only multiplies the power of diaspora giving but also demonstrates how institutional partners can stand alongside communities to deliver rapid, tangible impact.”

He stressed that this blended, matching-funds approach was central to the organisation’s mission.

“Matching funds show diaspora donors that their contributions unlock even greater impact. It strengthens trust, accelerates impact and ensures every dollar goes further,” Muleya added.

Participation at the ICAZ Winter School & Investment Conference underlines RemitHope’s alignment with institutions that value integrity and professional stewardship. ICAZ also provides a credible platform to connect with diaspora communities and strengthen the trust that underpins RemitHope’s model.

With an ambitious target to raise USD50 million for 1 000 African-led organisations in 13 countries, RemitHope is positioning remittances as a high-potential philanthropic channel that addresses critical gaps in education, health, livelihoods, emergencies and family support.

Muleya said through trusted partnerships, diaspora solidarity and innovative mechanisms like matching funds, RemitHope is looking to turn remittances into a legacy of hope for Africa.
