Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies, SSASCGOC, has urged the Federal Government to urgently revisit the reform of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, and settle outstanding wage awards, promotion arrears and other entitlements owed to Nigerian workers.
The association disclosed this in a communique signed by its president and acting secretary, Kayode Alakija and Akin Okudero, respectively.
This comes after the association’s National Executive Council, NEC, meeting held on Friday in Akwa Ibom State.
In its resolutions, SSASCGOC asked the Federal Government to revisit its approach to reforming NIPOST by allocating intervention funds to upgrade facilities, logistics, and technology to boost operational efficiency and service delivery.
The association also called for a review of the 50/50 revenue deduction policy introduced by the Federal Ministry of Finance, describing it as a major obstacle to effective service delivery by government agencies.
“The government must invest in cutting-edge technology to modernise postal operations, improve customer experience, and strengthen competitiveness in the digital age,” the communiqué stated.
It, however, expressed deep concern over the worsening insecurity across the country, warning that it continues to cripple socio-economic activities.
The association stressed the need for strategic collaboration with government agencies to address issues relating to workers’ health, education and housing.
