News of the death of Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, General Ibrahim Attahiru alongside 6 other senior military personnel made Nigerians got shocked, the death is coming four months of his appointment to the post.

General Attahiru who was appointed by President Muhmmadu Buhari following the sack of the former Service Chiefs in line with constant callings for their removal by several Nigerians who charged them of incompetence or rather, overrunning their terms in the office.

Born in1966 in Doka, Kaduna State Nigeria, Late Gen. Attahiru attended Nigerian Defence Academy where he studied and graduated, attended different institutes within and outside Nigeria as he held several appointments with the military security sectors.

Before this, there had been two plane smashes both in this year. One military plane had a crash in Abuja in February, while another military aircraft was also lost in Borno in April. Boko-Haram claimed to have shot it down, what the military has denied instantly.

President Muhammdu Buhari through his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) Mal. Garba Shehu said in a statement, “While praying that God receives the souls of the patriots, the President says the crash “is one mortal blow to our underbelly, at a time our armed forces are poised to end the security challenges facing the country.”

Borno’s governor, Prof. Umara Zulum, was among the dignitaries that graced the burial told newsmen that late COAS was about to end Boko-Haram before his death, acknowledging his effort and patriotism. The military so far has stressed commitment to investigate the cause of the incident, in a statement.

Analysts feel that late COAS Attahiru was curious to bring about the end of the insurgency in Nigeria. In this regard, many people were arrested and being explored for allegedly having association with Boko-Haram or other terrorist groups.

National justice minister, Abubakar Malami, has recently accused some people in Nigeria of supporting and financing terrorist groups however he did not expose them, saying that Nigerians would get traumatized when they hear the names of the accused.

Observers are asking whether there is any component of conspiracy behind the occurrence that caused his death. Whether he has enemies or some differences between others and him.

“I don’t think so. You know history is there to judge if there is any element of conspiracy behind the death. I believed only investigation would prove that whenever the report comes out.” One analyst whose identity was hidden, said.
