Africa-Press-Nigeria Kidnapping is now one of the major security threat in Nigeria ,a country with population of over Two hundred Million People.
It is estimated that more than One Thousand ( 1000) School Children were abducted for ransom this year .
This led to the closure of thousands of Schools in a Country which half of its population is under 18 and become home to the world largest out of Schools children.
The sad Development forced farmers to abandon their land or sold it to purchase their children and other family members from the kidnappers.
The most affected part of Nigeria is North western part of the country especially Zamfara , Katsina and Kaduna States It could be recalled that within this year hundreds of students were abducted from the home state of president Muhammad Buhari at Government Science Secondary School Kankara Katsina State.
Also in the same vein 140 students were kidnapped from Bathel Baptist School in Kaduna State and Many in Zamfara state repectively.
WHO IS BEHIND THE ABDUCTIION AND KIDNAPPING IN NIGERIA?
Most of the bandits and Kidnappers according to reports from the major Nigerian and International Media Organizations which is largely sourced from the security Agencies and the affected Communities are Fulani ethnic group, a traditionally cattle rearing Society, whose herdsmen have being fighting with farmers for years over access to dwindling grazing land.
The bandits recently organised in to a strong kidnapping gangs seizing every one from villagers to prominent Politicians and Police Men.
One thing to fear more is that even the Number one Military training School in the country Nigerian Defence Academy which is based in Kaduna State was raided by the bandits killed two Soldiers , Kidnapped a ranking Military officer and grabbed more Weaponry.
The control of the security structure in Nigeria remains in the hand of Federal Government which makes it difficult for State Governors in the country to have control over major Security issues in their respective States as chief Security officers of their States Constitutionally.
The lingering Security situation in the more affected states with kidnapping of School children and other challenges push three State Governors to direct their Citizens to use weapons to protect them selves and their Communities as Security agencies under the Federal Government can not handle the security threat.
In an Interview with Kaduna state based Private Radio station “Nagarta Radio” Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari says “it is hardly day passes by with out Person being killed or Kidnapped – no single day”
Dr. Abbati Bako is an International political Strategy and Communication Consultant based in Kano Nigeria.
Bako attributed the whole issues of Kidnapping and banditry with the economic and Political Motives.
He said there is no single person that can be identified as behind the kidnapping but the general insecurity of the Country.
” As far as I am Concern the Insecurity of this Country is do to economic ordity among Nigerians , we are too heavy on Our economy which largely defend on crude oil exportation.”
He said if Nigeria sells a berral of crude oil the money is meant to cater for 80 citizens unlike Saudi Arabia were the same is catering for two citizens or 30 citizens in Algeria.
The analyst suggested that Nigeria must diversify its economy and Foreign earning like China ,India and Malysia deed if not the Security challenges will continue.
With regard to the issue of International Criminal Court Investigation on kidnapping in Nigeria ,said he doubts very much if the Court can involved it self on such issue as there is no single Person that might be arrested for the kidnapping and banditry as it involves a lot of syndicates.
