Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday said the ongoing e-registration exercise has shown that Nigerians have confidence in the party.
Seye Oladejo, the spokesman of the state chapter of APC, said the e-registration exercise is a landmark achievement in strengthening internal democracy, party cohesion, and grassroots participation as the nation counts down to the next general elections.
In a statement he signed, Oladejo said: “The overwhelming turnout and seamless adoption of the digital registration platform clearly demonstrate the growing confidence of Lagosians- and Nigerians at large- in the APC and its progressive ideals.
“This exercise has not only expanded the Party’s membership base but has also provided a transparent, credible, and verifiable database that reflects the true strength of the APC across wards, local governments, and constituencies.
“Notably, the success of the exercise has further engendered internal democracy within the Party by providing a level playing ground for both old and new members to formally register, thereby qualifying them to vote and be voted for in line with the Party’s constitution. This inclusive approach reinforces fairness, participation, and trust among members.
“The Party’s insistence on the possession of a valid Voters’ Card and National Identification Number (NIN) as prerequisites for registration was a master-stroke.
“This measure ensured the integrity of the process by eliminating the registration of ghost members merely to inflate figures, thereby safeguarding the credibility and authenticity of the APC membership register.
“The implications of registering over ten million members nationwide are profound. This remarkable figure is a further confirmation of the APC as a political party with deep-rooted structures and a formidable presence across the crannies and corners of the country.
“Such a widespread and verifiable membership base speaks to the Party’s acceptability, organizational strength, and enduring connection with the grassroots.”
