Africa-Press – Nigeria. A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Otunba Peter Obafemi, has asserted that Ekiti State is not as poor as it has been portrayed by successive governments, describing the narrative as a misconception.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, Obafemi noted that the outcry over Ekiti living on meagre resources was a falsehood and an excuse by governors to cover up their incompetence and failure.
He affirmed that the major problem affecting the state’s growth and development is poor management of resources and a lack of creativity by successive governors.
According to Obafemi, there are several states in Nigeria and across the world that do not have access to the kind of resources available in Ekiti but are performing remarkably well.
The renowned entrepreneur claimed that the current level of development in Ekiti State does not correspond with the huge monthly allocation accruing to the state, in addition to various international support funds, internally generated revenue, and World Bank-assisted programmes.
The PDP chieftain urged the people of Ekiti to always ask questions and never allow themselves to be deceived again, especially during the forthcoming election.
