Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Bauchi State Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has declared that Governor Bala Mohammed is no longer a member of the party, describing his recent claim of membership as misleading.

The committee spoke in a statement signed by the caretaker chairman, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed.

According to the committee, its attention was drawn to a viral video in which the governor allegedly claimed he remained a member of the PDP.

The statement said the remark was made while the governor was breaking the Ramadan fast with supporters at the Government House in Bauchi.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this claim is misleading,” the committee stated.

The party leadership referenced the 103rd and 104th resolutions of the PDP National Executive Committee, NEC, maintaining that Governor Bala Mohammed, alongside Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, among others, had been formally expelled for actions deemed inconsistent with the party’s constitution.

According to the committee, the party’s position on the governor’s status “remains clear and has not changed,” adding that public declarations and media engagements cannot override the established resolutions of the NEC.

The statement further advised that if Governor Mohammed genuinely wishes to remain in the PDP, he should pursue reconciliation with key stakeholders he had publicly confronted, particularly the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Beyond the political dispute, the caretaker committee urged the governor to focus on governance, citing what it described as rising insecurity in Bauchi State, especially within his local government area.

The committee called on PDP members and stakeholders in the state to treat the governor’s statement with caution and continue supporting the Bauchi State PDP Caretaker Committee, stressing that “the integrity of the party’s processes must be preserved at all times.”
