Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has conducted its ward congresses across the 21 local government areas of Kebbi State, with members electing new executives and delegates.

The exercise, which took place on Saturday, witnessed massive turnout in several wards, including Gwangwadija in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area and Sauwa in Argungu Local Government Area where over 500 people reportedly participated.

Addressing journalists after monitoring the exercise, the leader of the Ward Congress Election Committee from the PDP national headquarters, Bello Goronyo, who also serves as chairman of the party in Sokoto State, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct.

“Sincerely speaking, I am happy with what I saw. The turnout was encouraging, and it is a testament that the PDP is still accepted by the people,” Goronyo said, stressing that the PDP remained a formidable opposition force in Nigeria despite challenges.

He also commended security agencies and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for ensuring a hitch-free process, particularly in areas with security concerns.

Similarly, the Chairman of the PDP Ward Congress in Kebbi State and publicity secretary of the party, Sani Dododo, said the large turnout highlights the unity and resilience of the party in the state.

“Kebbi PDP is one. The turnout was a clear demonstration of the determination of our members and a sign that the party remains strong in the state,” he said.
