Africa-Press – Nigeria. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ward 5, Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The APC chieftain, Nelson Adepoyigi, was kidnapped on Monday evening at his house situated along Ifon-Owo Road within the local government.
Sources in the community revealed that the kidnappers had made contact with the family of the victim, demanding a N100 million ransom before he would be released.
With the development creating tension in the agrarian community, residents have decried what they described as incessant security lapses in the axis, particularly communities within Ose and Owo council areas.
While confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command disclosed that security operatives are on the trail of the suspects in order to rescue the victim unhurt.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that they assured the public that every effort is being made to track down the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
He said, “I can confirm to you that the chairman of APC ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo Road.
“At the receipt of the report, the DPO Ifon, in collaboration with hunters, local Vigilante Group members, and Nigeria Army personnel, has launched a manhunt for the suspects.”
