Africa-Press – Nigeria. Adamawa State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention Committee, Ahmadu Fintiri, has said that the unity of the party is more important than personal relationships as the party prepares for its national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Fintiri dismissed attempts by Nyesom Wike and his allies to influence the process, stressing that no group would be allowed to derail the exercise.
“I will not place personal relationships above this party. We cannot continue dragging our issues to the media; it is too embarrassing. True party men resolve disputes within, not outside. We will not allow indiscipline or blackmail to derail this process.”
He assured party members that the convention committee would deliver a transparent and credible exercise, where all aspirants would have equal opportunity to contest.
According to him, candidates are expected to buy forms, file their nominations, and face delegates in line with the PDP’s democratic traditions.
“The PDP secretariat for the convention is fully operational, and we are working to ensure a smooth and credible process,” Fintiri explained.
He urged members to put the collective interest of the party above personal ambition, warning against selfish demands.
Fintiri also expressed confidence that the upcoming convention would demonstrate the PDP’s resilience and readiness to reclaim national leadership despite internal disagreements.
