Africa-Press – Nigeria. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has attributed the peaceful conduct of its Local Government Area, LGA, congresses in Ebonyi State to the amicable adoption of consensus in the electoral process.

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro–Emegha, made the assertion on Saturday in Abakaliki while assessing the congress, which was generally peaceful and orderly across the 13 LGAs of the state.

Okoro–Emegha said the congresses reflected “an understanding within a family,” which ensured the success of the ward congresses held earlier.

“There is provision for consensus in the party’s constitution, and the opposition might misconstrue it for selection.

“Brothers can step down for one another in a contest, and this has ensured that the people we presented at the end are our first eleven.

“There were still areas where fresh people were elected to replace those who passed away or those who received various appointments,” he said.

He noted that such a model continues to attract more people into the APC and that it would be sustained.

“Those who newly joined the party should wait because you don’t come into someone’s house and aim to occupy the parlour,” he added.

The Member representing Ohaukwu/Ebonyi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Nwachukwu Eze, told newsmen that the APC has become the accepted political platform in the state.

Eze, speaking at the Ohaukwu LGA headquarters, said the APC has demonstrated unity, focus, and determination to sweep the stakes in the 2027 general elections and beyond.

“It is gratifying that the party I co-established in Ebonyi has consolidated, becoming a refuge for leaders in Ebonyi and beyond.

“The successes we recorded at the ward and LGA congresses will be replicated at the state and national levels, positioning the party as the flagship of the nation’s politics,” he said.

The Ebonyi Commissioner for Works, Chief Stanley Mbam, said the peaceful congresses were a collective success of the party, as there were no reports of violence anywhere.

Mbam, speaking to journalists at the Abakaliki LGA headquarters, said party faithful were adopting Governor Francis Nwifuru’s doctrine of all-inclusivity and peaceful coexistence.

“What matters is peace at the end of the exercise, and the party can build on this strength to achieve more successes.

“We are learning from our father, the governor, who preaches that we can be large in a family and still achieve great feats with one mind and focus,” he said.
