Africa-Press – Nigeria. Kano State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, has said that there is nothing wrong with voluntarily aligning under one party.
Waiya made this statement on Tuesday when he featured in an interview on Arise Television monitored.
He said, “There is nothing wrong with people voluntarily aligning under one party if it reflects a convergence of ideology and a shared commitment to deliver real change and transformation for the country.
“A lot of people have been insinuating that we are tilted towards having one party system. It’s not that. Look at what is happening.
“Despite the advancement of democracy in America, they have just only two great parties. They have Republican and Democrat. These are the old two parties that have been there for more than 200 years, and everybody is aligning himself with one or the other, and there’s nothing wrong about that.
“What is most important is only a convergence of the ideology, convergence of what you believe in and also agree to work. Why must everybody be in a political party? What is the essence of having number of political party that did not even have representations across the across the 36 states in the country.
“What is the essence of having them? Many of them do not even have national Secretariat let alone party secretariat is different level. So if really we care about providing services for our people, we can all converge even in one party.
“The most important thing is for you to bring to the table what you can offer and what I can offer, then let’s see how we can do if you get opportunity to be the one elected, then I will support you with everything and I wait for my own turn to come.
“There’s nothing wrong in that. So I have not seen anything wrong in that. And you cannot blame President Bola Tinubu-led administration on doing that.”
