Africa-Press – Nigeria. The National Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sulaiman Argungu, has dismissed claims that the ruling party engages in vote buying, insisting that its recent victories came through grassroots mobilization and purposeful leadership.
Argungu spoke in a video interview posted by Symfoni TV, where he stressed that the APC believes in open democracy and not financial inducements during elections.
“We encourage our party members, the candidates in particular, and party leaders to mobilize people rather than vote buying,” he said.
“We don’t give money to anybody to go and buy votes. We believe in open democracy.”
He explained that the decision of the APC National Chairman to personally lead campaigns across states was a deliberate strategy to inspire confidence in members and show commitment to the party’s success.
“To show purposeful leadership, that was why the new brand national chairman of our great party decided to go out himself during the campaign to be the soul of these states, so that we encourage our people,” Argungu added.
According to him, this approach helped the APC win in one of the constituencies in Kano State and also contributed to the party’s success in other parts of the country.
Argungu also revealed that he monitored election activities from the APC Situation Room throughout the weekend, confirming from party agents that there were no reports of malpractice except for minor issues in Anambra State, which he said he personally addressed.
