Ayekooto Urges Senate to Ignore Noisy Election Losers

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Ahead of the emergency plenary in the Senate, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ayekooto Akindele has urged the lawmakers to be firm in their approach to amending the controversial part of the Electoral Act.

The internet personality urged the upper legislative chamber to ignore the “rants of noisy election losers” while effecting changes on the legislation.

DAILY POST had reported that a cross section of Nigerians, including the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Monday stormed the National Assembly complex to demand that the electronic transmission of election results be made compulsory.

Despite clarifications by the Senate over reports that it rejected electronic transmission of results, the protesters insist that lawmakers must be explicit by including the phrase “real-time electronic transmission” in the proposed legislation.

The lawmakers are expected to have an emergency plenary on Tuesday (today) to address the concerns.

Ahead of the plenary, Ayekooto in a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday urged the lawmakers to be nationalistic in their approach.

He wrote, “As the Senate meets today to decide on the necessary amendment to the Electoral Act, they should be firm and nationalistic in their approach.

“They should ignore the rants of noisy election losers and their online marabouts. Nigerians have trust in this Senate.

“Vote transparently to decide, where necessary, and finish this patriotic assignment today, so that we can move to another vital matter. May God Bless Godswill Akpabio and the Nigerian Senate”.
