Africa-Press – Nigeria. Two suspected armed robbers met a gruesome end at the hands of angry villagers after launching an attack on two herding boys in Charimeleri Bush, Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to a post shared on Friday by counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, via his official X handle, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on May 21, 2025.
Makama said the two unidentified assailants, armed with machetes, knives, and bows and arrows, ambushed the boys, Abdu Ali and Abba Ali, while they were grazing 25 sheep in the bush. The attackers reportedly made away with the entire flock.
The boys escaped and alerted their father, Bukar Umara, who in turn mobilized villagers to track the suspects using their footprints. The villagers eventually intercepted the robbers and recovered the stolen animals.
A confrontation ensued during which one of the robbers stabbed a villager, Fannami Bukar, in the chest. The villagers retaliated immediately, fatally injuring both suspects.
Security operatives later arrived at the scene, took photographs, and recovered weapons including a bow and arrow, a sheath knife, and two head veils.
The two wounded robbers were taken to the Gubio General Hospital, where they were declared dead.
The injured villager is currently receiving treatment at the Primary Health Care Centre in Gubio and is responding well.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the robbers, but investigations are ongoing.
