Africa-Press – Nigeria. Nigerian billionaire businessman and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has said he did not inherit his father’s wealth; rather, he insisted that everything he owns was built from scratch.
He made this known in a Bloomberg interview which resurfaced online on Tuesday.
Dangote noted that although his father was “fairly rich” through business and politics and among the wealthiest in his time, he deliberately chose not to keep any of the wealth passed down to him.
According to him, whatever he inherited from his father, he gave to charity.
“One thing that I’m very, very proud of is that I did not inherit any money from my father. I built everything from scratch to get to where I am.
“Whatever I inherited from him, which means in assets, I gave that on to charity since then,” he explained.
Dangote’s wealth that stood at $23.9 billion in 2024, according to Forbes.
