Fact-check: Did Governor Masari pass no confidence vote on IGP

Africa-PressNigeria. A media report has claimed that the Katsina State Governor, Masari has passed a vote of no confidence on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba.

According to the report (not by DAILY POST) Governor Masari made the claim on Thursday when the IGP who was on a one-day working visit to Katsina State paid a courtesy call on the Governor at the state government house.

The publication has been described by the Katsina Police Command as false, fake, mischievous and a calculated attempt by the newspaper to soil the image of the Nigeria Police Force.

Similarly, the Director-General on Media in the state, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, held a press briefing with on Friday concerning the allegation against his Principal, Governor Masari.

Labaran said the state government was unhappy over the publication and choice of headline.

“Governor Masari did not and has never passed a vote of no confidence on the Inspector-General of Police.

“The state government is disappointed over the headline of the newspaper. The Governor never said anything relating to what the headline said. The newspaper lied about the story,” Labaran disclosed.

However, the Director General Media has said that the next line of action would be made known after the state government discusses with the management of the concerned newspaper.”

The Verdict

The claim that Governor Masari passed a vote of no confidence on the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Buba may be inaccurate and misleading as the State correspondent of the platform has revealed that the headline he used for the story was different from what the newspaper settled for, DAILY POST reliably gathered.
