Africa-Press – Nigeria. Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Ike Neliaku, and other stakeholders, at the weekend, eulogized the founder of DAAR Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, for his service to humanity.
The duo spoke at the 2nd Raymond Dokpesi Diamond Lecture organised by the NIPR in Abuja.
The governor, who lamented that some praise singers of former President Muhammadu Buhari turned against him after his tenure, hailed the late media mogul for his trustworthy lifestyle.
The governor also lauded Dokpesi for establishing the country’s first private radio and television stations despite the military rule at that time.
According to him, “It was an era when nearly everything was controlled by the government.”
On his part, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, hailed the late Dokpesi, describing him as a visionary who transformed communication in Nigeria.
According to Neliaku, Dokpesi lived his life as a pathfinder who broke barriers in media, democratized information, and gave voice to the voiceless.
“At the heart of Dr. Dokpesi’s vision was a philosophy that aligns deeply with the soul of our profession, public relations as service to society.
“He understood that communication is not just about the media; it is about meaning. It is about connecting people to truth, leaders to citizens, and nations to the world,” he said.
