Kano Court Orders TikTokers to Marry in 60 Days

Africa-Press – Nigeria. A Magistrate Court in Kano has ordered two popular TikTokers, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to marry within 60 days.

The order followed their appearance in viral videos considered indecent by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.

Presiding Magistrate Halima Wali on Monday directed the Kano State Hisbah Board to facilitate the marriage and warned that failure to do so within the specified period would amount to contempt of court.

The court also instructed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to oversee the implementation of the order.

The duo had earlier been arraigned for allegedly producing and sharing obscene content on social media. Mai Wushirya was previously remanded in a correctional facility after clips showing him and the female TikToker in romantic scenes went viral.

Authorities said the videos violated state laws against the production and distribution of sexually suggestive material.
