Africa-Press – Nigeria. A woman in Kano, Hafsatu Yusuf, has delivered five babies at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, and the state government has stepped in to cover their medical care.
This was made known on Wednesday in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Naisa.
The statement said the woman gave birth to the quintuplets, three boys and two girls.
It also confirmed that both the mother and her newborns are receiving close medical attention from doctors and other health workers at the hospital.
Hafsatu’s husband, Malam Salisu Nufiu, who works as a tricycle rider, thanked the government, saying, “This support has come at a very critical moment for my family, and we are deeply grateful to the government.”
The government explained that the support forms part of its wider plan to improve healthcare services in the state, with a focus on mothers and children.
It added that efforts are ongoing to reduce the number of deaths amongst mothers and babies, whilst also making quality healthcare more accessible, especially for people with limited resources.
The statement assured residents that the government will continue to support those in need and ensure better healthcare services across the state.
