Africa-Press – Nigeria. Almustapha Malami, younger brother of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has been appointed General Manager of the Kebbi State Geographic Information System, KEBGIS.
The appointment comes less than 24 hours after Almustapha Malami defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and publicly declared support for Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, ahead of the 2027 elections.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Kebbi State Head of Service, Malami Shekare, and made available to journalists on Tuesday.
In the letter, the Head of Service urged the appointee to carry out his duties with diligence, professionalism and commitment, in line with the policies and objectives of the Kebbi State Government.
“The government expects you to bring your wealth of experience to bear in ensuring effective management of the state’s geographic information system for improved land administration and service delivery,” the letter stated.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
KEBGIS is the agency responsible for land administration, mapping and digital land records management in Kebbi State.
The development has attracted public attention due to the timing of the appointment, though the Kebbi State Government has yet to issue an official response to reactions surrounding it.
